Piper-Heidsieck, Cuvée Brut
Piper-Heidsieck, Cuvée Brut – a name synonymous with excellence in the world of Champagne. Dating back to 1785, this house was founded by Florens-Louis Heidsieck, and it has since become one of the most iconic and esteemed houses in the region. From Marilyn Monroe’s fondness for the drink (she once claimed it was her favourite way to start the day) to being featured in the first-ever Champagne bottle in a movie (in the 1933 Laurel and Hardy film ‘Sons of the Desert’), Piper-Heidsieck has long been intertwined with the glitz and glamour of cinema.
At the helm of the winemaking process are some of the most celebrated and revered experts in Champagne, who ensure that each wine crafted by Piper-Heidsieck is of the utmost quality. This dedication to excellence has not gone unnoticed – in fact, Piper-Heidsieck’s wines consistently receive accolades at international competitions. For instance, at the 2019 International Wine and Spirit Competition, the 2012 Vintage won the Vintage Champagne Trophy, while at the 2019 International Wine Challenge, the Non-Vintage Classic Blend Trophy was awarded to the Essentiel Cuvée Réservée. In addition, Piper-Heidsieck’s winemakers have won the Sparkling Winemaker of the Year award at the IWC more times than any other house.
Today, the custodian of Piper-Heidsieck’s winemaking legacy is Chef de Cave Émilien Boutillat, who adheres to the simple philosophy of preserving the quality, elegance, and generosity of style that has always characterized the Piper-Heidsieck wines. As the years go by, this legendary Champagne house continues to thrive, creating unforgettable moments and leaving an indelible mark on the world of wine.
