Hautes Collines Rouge, Château La Verrerie

The vineyard at the estate spans 56 hectares, with Grenache accounting for half of the red varieties planted, followed by 30% Syrah, and the remaining 20% comprised of Cinsault, Carignan, and Mourvedre. Winemaker Valentine has implemented biodynamic practices across various parcels and has achieved certified organic status since the 2013 vintage. The soils are predominantly clay and limestone, providing both power and freshness to the wine. The estate is named ‘Hautes Collines,’ which means ‘high hills’ and aptly reflects its elevated location.

To maintain the freshness and vibrancy of the grapes, they were harvested at night and then sorted at the winery, first by entire bunch and then by berry after full de-stemming. The grapes underwent temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks for 20 to 25 days, with each varietal kept separate and aged in a combination of concrete tanks and used oak casks.

The resulting wine is a clear garnet color with elegant aromas of blood orange and herbs. The palate is round and features velvety tannins and notes of vibrant black fruit and liquorice, all balanced by bright acidity. This certified organic blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan is a testament to the winemaker’s talent and the unique terroir of the Lubéron.
