In the glass, this wine is an attractive pale yellow colour. The nose boasts aromas of white flowers, apricots and flaked almonds with subtle notes of sweet pastry. On the palate the concentrated citrus flavours are well-balanced by a bright, racy acidty and lovely mineral notes, which linger on the finish.
Côtes-du-Rhône Blanc, Famille Perrin
Famille Perrin is one of the most recognisable names in the Southern Rhône. The fifth and sixth generations of the family now manage the extensive vineyard holdings and grower partnerships that stretch across the region, from Vinsobres to the Ventoux.
VINEYARDS
The Perrin family manage the vineyards for their Côtes-du-Rhône wines. The fruit for the Côtes-du-Rhône Blanc is sourced from the clay-limestone soils of Cairanne and Jonquières, giving the wine a mineral freshness.
The 2022 vintage in the Southern Rhône was favored by very good weather conditions. Winter was mild with one single episode of frost was noted during the night of 24th March (only the early-ripening plots were very slightly affected). Spring was radiant, quite warm and very windy, which help the soils to preserve their freshness. The good weather continued in June, July, and August. Temperatures were lower than in 2019, and cool, humid nights coupled with constant wind helped to maintain fruit health. Harvest began early on 26th August under idyllic conditions and each plot was harvested at perfect maturity. 2020 was a generous vintage in terms of both quality and quantity. The fruit was beautifully juicy with good alcohol levels, nice acidity, and great balance.
